Embed High Quality YouTube Videos

If you have noticed YouTube is now giving some videos the option to “watch in high quality”.  This is pretty nice, since most of the videos on YouTube are rather poor quality.

The problem comes in when you would like to embed a YouTube video into your webpage or blog…Youtube only gives you the option to embed a “standard quality” video.  Not the new high quality ones.

Here’s the code you need to insert in the “param name” and “embed src” portions of the code:

Here’s an example of a standard or normal quality video:

And here is the same video with the high quality version..see the difference? You should!

    This works great in Firefox and Chrome. But, does anyone know how to make it work in Internet Explorer?

  5. @Ben - It works in IE for me..did you get it to work?

    @Shadra - I haven’t had a video do this to me yet, are you sure you have the code correct? Let me know and I’ll see if I can’t help you out.

  7. Hi Roger, this is the code you need to add to the Youtube embed code to get the high quality version of the video to display on your website.
